Developing Senior Leaders Programme

This course is aimed at Primary or Secondary experienced middle leaders wishing to apply for or recently appointed to senior leadership posts. Participants will have the opportunity to visit four Alliance schools throughout the course and meet the respective Headteachers. This programme will develop a range of skills required to be an effective senior leader; to raise awareness and increase understanding of a range of issues facing senior leaders; and to prepare delegates for the challenges they will encounter as senior leaders.

Course Outline:

  • Wednesday 15th November 2017 Succeeding in Senior Leadership
    Introduction to the Programme, setting a strategic vision, action planning, tools for evaluation, keeping abreast of National developments.

2pm – 5pm at Saffron Walden County High School

  • Tuesday 5th December 2017 Effective use of whole school data
    Data; RAISE, Curriculum & Accountability – Progress 8; Intervention – sharing strategies.

2pm – 5pm at Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport

  • Thursday 18th January 2018 Preparing for interview and establishing yourself as a senior leader
    The selection process; change management; establishing yourself in your first year

2pm – 5pm at Hedingham School

  • Friday 2nd February 2018 Dealing with challenging situations
    Dealing with challenging situations, HR issues: sickness/capability; Accountability: holding yourself and others to account

2pm – 5pm at Katherine Semar Junior School, Saffron Walden

  • June 2018 Celebration event

4.00pm – 5.30pm at SWCHS
