Developing Middle Leaders Programme

The course will focus on supporting the development of a range of leadership and management skills for Primary or Secondary staff typically in their first year in post or aspiring to middle leadership.

The programme supports the development of a range of generic leadership and management skills needed by middle leaders in order to successfully manage the transition into their first management post.

Suitable for participants across phases and from any role within a school which has responsibility for leading and managing a team, the programme is led by current senior and middle leaders with a proven track record of success at this level of leadership.

Session 2: Managing in the role

  • Managing yourself and your time
  • Effective use of your team through delegation
  • Managing resources and budgets

Session 4: Delivering change and improvement

  • Understanding the school development planning process
  • Identifying and prioritising areas for change

Developing Senior Leaders Programme

This course is aimed at Primary or Secondary experienced middle leaders wishing to apply for or recently appointed to senior leadership posts. Participants will have the opportunity to visit four Alliance schools throughout the course and meet the respective Headteachers. This programme will develop a range of skills required to be an effective senior leader; to raise awareness and increase understanding of a range of issues facing senior leaders; and to prepare delegates for the challenges they will encounter as senior leaders.
