Developing a Computing Curriculum for Primary

These three twilight sessions, aimed at all Primary teachers, will provide a comprehensive insight into Computing through all the stages of Primary School.

This course aims to help teachers to really understand the Computing Curriculum at a primary level and consider how students should progress from EYFS through to being ‘secondary ready’. It will help develop an understanding of how to teach and develop Computer Science schemes of work for each year group, with practical suggestions on how to teach topics in conjunction with other parts of the curriculum. There will also be a session to build confidence in teaching using software such as Scratch.

Recently Qualified Teacher Programme

This new three-day programme designed by the Eastern Leadership Centre for recently qualified teachers is now being offered to teachers in our locality.

This certified programme, for both primary and secondary teachers in their second to fifth year of teaching, is quality assured by the Eastern Leadership Centre (ELC) and is approved by the Teaching Schools Council.

With a focus on reflective practice and a coaching style the programme is centred around three face-to-face days with associated inter-sessional activities:

  • Great Teaching – becoming an expert practitioner in the classroom through impact, reflection and risk!
  • Leading Learning – taking others with you through inspiration, vision and values
  • Forgoing ahead – pathways to further success.

Participants will share and develop exciting good practice. They will explore different ways to use research, observation and monitoring strategies to enhance teaching and leadership. They will also learn more about themselves and working with others through reflecting on personal styles, use of emotional intelligence and overcoming barriers.
