Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants

Teaching assistants are a large and indispensable part of the school workforce and schools face increasing scrutiny on how they use TAs and demonstrate the contribution they make to teaching and learning. Therefore, the MITA project aims to improve schools’ deployment of teaching assistants and ensure they make a valuable contribution to learning. MITA is a strategic school improvement  programme developed by Essex County Council in partnership with the Institute of Education, UCL London aimed at School Leaders and SENCos.

Aimed at those who lead or oversee the work of teaching assistants in both primary and secondary schools. The three afternoon sessions will cover:

Ofsted framework pays greater attention to how TAs contribute to the quality of teaching and learning

Schools must demonstrate effective use of Pupil Premium funding to raise attainment for disadvantaged students
